I discovered the Respite Tea website towards the end of 2021 and was quite intrigued by the benefits of bitter leaf tea. In addition to the information published in the blogs, I’ve carried out further research and decided to try the tea out as I suffer from terrible joint pains (stage III knee degeneration) made worse in the autumn/winter time.
After discovering the flavours through the TryMeBox, I opted for the PURE blend as my go to blend. Not only does it contain the most bitter leaf content, but its bitter taste is also quite palatable after a while.
Shortly after, I started to feel some relief from the pain. I dismissed this as something that was all in my head, or the typical placebo effect, as I could not believe drinking the tea would have such an immediate effect.
I decided to stop drinking the tea during the spring and summer of 2022, which luckily was warm and dry but in November the pain came back with a vengeance. So, I started to drink PURE again, but by that time the Respite Tea team had introduced loose leaf tea, so I went for it.
PURE as loose tea has a different taste, a more earthy flavour than the teabag, but one has to try what quantity suits them best for taste. Once again, I felt some significant relief from the pain.
So, is it coincidence, a placebo effect or just the potency of this super herb? Who cares, the pain is so much more bearable. If you suffer from inflammation, please try it yourself and see what wonders it does for you.
